Future Ready Community

Future proofing Community Leaders

We see an increasing number of community organisations facing challenges in having the right people and resources to govern and focus on the most important issues faced by our future generations. Current community organisation systems must be re-evaluated and upgraded to align resources, skills, and knowledge with the demands of the future. Many organisations are still led by with some members and groups, often resistant to new ideas and slow to adapt. This lack of willingness to embrace change stifles the voice of future generations; some organisation committees often prioritise family ties, friendship and core groups over merit and societal growth.

The working committees, which hold voting power, are restricted, limiting opportunities for community members to voice concerns or make suggestions. It is crucial to evaluate their structure and build frameworks and suitable models, including better policies, to ensure they are equipped to handle future challenges. The primary objective is to safeguard the next generation and connect them with the core values and beliefs of the community and betterment of the wider world. Community organisations are mostly funded by the community through Jummah collection and various donations; therefore, the aim should be to foster inclusivity, adaptability, and responsiveness to community needs. Future-ready community project encourages Mosques and community organisations introduce following framework to improve the current system.

  • Monthly Open day for feedback and suggestions.
  • Minimum Qualification and a suitable representation community and background (Committees should be made of scholars, professionals, Academics, social workers and business leaders with academic and professional backgrounds).
  • Quarterly financial and project reporting
  • Compulsory regular (monthly/weekly) youth projects on top of the spiritual activities

By reimagining community organisations with these principles, they can become truly future-ready, providing robust support for our evolving society while nurturing cultural and community essence to serve the humanity.

The  future-ready community project aims facilitate this process by having dialogue, and engage in discussions to address this pressing issue via work shops, online media and traditional media. This will help build a framework and models that can accommodate the proposed framework.
